The opposite of PartnershipCulture. The cultural style of male hegemony and Egoism. Produces hierarchial systems of domination. Historically modeled after the idea of EgoAsGod; the image of God being nothing more than a mental projection of an infinitely powerful typical male Ego. This image typically shows up in the Judaeo-Christian monotheistic religions, but goes back to early worship of sun gods and the rise of Kingship and large-scale agriculture. DiscussionHenrikNyman, you are simplifying some steps without telling us, IMHO. You are implicitly claiming that the image of an almighty male ego is more present in JudaeoChristianReligions than in other religions, but you are not backing that claim. You proceed to implicitly claim that this image is a bad image, by using "well known Bad Isms", like Fascism and Capitalism. I'm not saying you are wrong, I'm just saying that you're not convincing anyone who doesn't already agree, but then again that might not be what you are trying to do. Yes, probably. I am not telling you that JudaeoChristianReligions are all bad. I actually think there are good ideas within JudaeoChristianReligions as well. Heterodox Christianity and Gnosticism seems to me to be a break with the traditional male God of the OldTestament, and a very radical force 2000 years ago. Certain types of JewishMysticism seems to be pretty positive forces as well. I also think some of IslamicMysticism Sufism seems pretty sensible. But I generally think Fundamentalism is a bad idea in any Religion, and that JudaeoChristianReligions (including Islam) has been very influenced by patriarchial systems of power, and sometimes the original message has been abused. I think the time is here to start finding the good parts of all religions and cultures, and learn from our collective experiences. People do not need just Theologies and Ideologies; I think they also need immediate, personal (and collective) experiences for religion to be a positive radical force. The old "my-religion-is better-than-yours" intolerance needs to be abandoned. Who knows, this might just be Flumsnack, right? The "Bad Isms" are very simplified, indeed. I think the header is somewhat misleading. This should be changed To continue the complete, utter Flumsnack: Fundamentalism is NECESSARY! If you give in to an idea wholeheartedly, development can occur. TheIdiotsHaveAllTheTruth. Yes, this is news to me too! |
