clavier is a program for the X window system that emits MIDI note-on/note-off messages when you press the keys of a on-screen piano keyboard with the mouse. You can also use your computer keyboard, like in a tracker program.
It requires
GTK+.
Please send me a screenshot if you have clavier running. Life is too short to run X on a Pentium 90 with 32MB RAM. -- Update: it depends what apps you run -- X runs fine on a 486 with 16MB RAM if you run only xterm's and max two windows of netscape.

- Would you think it's possible to easily compile clavier for windows, or are you familiar with any free software that does the same job, for windows? --Jon
